Morian Island

Morian Island is home to the Guardians, or Morian tribe. It’s located in the western region of the Solea Archipelago.

The island is sharply divided into two halves: an inhabited eastern section and a “corrupted” western section called the Ruined Lands. Apart from this toxic and dangerous wilderness, most of Morian Island consists of grasslands teeming with life. A lone, snowy mountain resides in the north.

History

At the end of the Voek era — a time period when the Voek lived among the tribes — the western region of Morian Island fell to “corruption,” instigated by an unknown cause. In response, the Guardians barred entryway to the region and built watchtowers to monitor the corruption’s spread to animals and plants. They’ve maintained this vigilance for thousands of years.

The Guardians have long been a nomadic people. Many reside in the town of Ridoan, which is situated in the Drunwood Lowlands — but most come and go as they train with their tribes and spend time among the animals of their clan.

Elders, or clan members of esteemed rank and experience, often live in isolation so they can be closer to nature. They usually invite a few lucky pupils to mentor with them.

Gelgeth Mountain looms to the north. The peak is known for its harsh winds and extensive icy caverns. To the south lies the Bordrad Marshes, known for its high population of poison frogs and array of medicinal plants.

Flora and Fauna

Morian Island supports a great diversity of flora and fauna, such as snailmoths and glowrats. Though many creatures and plants are mild-mannered with humans or even tame, those afflicted by corruption can be highly dangerous.

Story Ideas

  • A Guardian exploring the deepest, most dangerous crannies of Gelgeth Mountain finds an unmined store of crystals, which Guardians use to power their gauntlets. What new abilities does this grant them?
  • Write the story of a Guardian who finds an ancient diary written before the Ruined Lands became corrupted. What were those western lands like before they fell to ruin?
