Piccal, Pengel, and Pelgo
Piccal, Pengel, and Pelgo (pictured from left to right) are owlray penguins common to the icy cliffs and waters of the Azalei Mountains. They were released in-game with the 2019 Winter Fun Pack.
Appearance
Owlray penguins are very loyal and familial creatures that are highly protective of their territory, food, and one another. Their feathers and blubber keep them warm in the freezing temperatures of the Azalei Mountains, even when submerged in icy waters.
Because of their size, sturdiness, and color, owlray penguins are often mistaken for rocks, especially when sleeping. Eldonians have occasionally been known to trip over them or even sit on them while hiking in the Azalei, causing the otherwise easygoing creatures to turn aggressive. Though they often waddle slowly on land, they can move very quickly when provoked.
Little is understood about the prominent eyebrows and curved ears of owlray penguins, which sometimes glow blue — although they’re thought to help intimidate bigger creatures.
Ecology
The sharp tip and edges of the owlray penguins’ wings allow them spear their prey, which mostly consists of deepwater fish. They live and travel in moderate colonies and work together when hunting.

- A Healer comes across an injured and lost owlray penguin while hiking in the mountains. Gain the creature’s trust and help reunite it with its family.
- A colony of owlray penguins has fallen into Verdalia, a much warmer climate than what they’re used to. How will they — and the Eldonians — react and why?
