The jeweled golecrusher is a legendary creature said to roam Elda Island. It conceals itself among the island’s abundant crystals and can burrow deep within the earth. It was released in-game with the 2019 Winter Fun Pack.

Appearance

It’s not known whether more than one jeweled golecrusher exists in the world. Eldonian legends describe it as a large, armored creature covered in scales, with crystal forearms, bat-like ears, and tufts of white fur.

The handful of sightings across history contain a few common threads, enough to suggest that the jeweled golecrusher is more than a rumor. Stories say it collects rare crystals and is powerful enough to ingest them or crush them in its paws. Despite its girth, it can hang from and climb cavern walls — even upside down — thanks to its strength and sharp back claws. Healers are divided as to whether this could be true.

Significance in Healer Culture

Some Eldonians consider the jeweled golecrusher the island’s protector, dating back to the Voek era. Sharing a close bond with the sprites, it protects them and the crystals across and within the depths of Elda Island. Its affinity for burrowing is thought to explain tunnels in the earth that are covered in crystals.

Legend says to look twice when you see crystals shimmering out of the corner of your eye — what you think is a flash of sunlight may actually be the movements of this ancient beast.

Story Ideas

  • While exploring a cave, a Healer comes across a mural depicting what looks like the jeweled golecrusher. What could it mean?
  • Several Healer elders are granted entrance to Azalei Tower. In its depths, a creature moves in the shadows … could it be the legendary jeweled golecrusher?
