Our commitment to creating lasting change

Classcraft TeamJuly 7, 2020

As we’ve been listening, taking stock, and reflecting on the events of recent weeks around racism and equity, we’ve spent time looking inward as a company with the goal of developing a plan that’s authentic to us as a Quebec-based company and that will help drive meaningful, lasting change.

Classcraft’s goal is to foster generations of people who find meaning in living and learning together by promoting values of engagement, collaboration, and growth. We work everyday to seed this future in students’ day-to-day classroom experiences around the world.

Racism, bullying, and violence stand in the way of a more inclusive and equitable future. We stand in solidarity with those who have had to suffer from racist and violent actions and who have brought these issues to the forefront through the Black Lives Matter movement.

Our intention is to create a new trajectory for our company that fosters long-term engagement with these issues. Here are the steps we’re taking to achieve this goal:

  • We’re creating an Equity Advisory Board to help us navigate these issues and recommend ways to support educators’ efforts around diversity and inclusion.
  • We’re investing in specialized training for our staff focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in our teams and our work. This training will become part of our staff’s ongoing professional development so we can ensure these values become core to our company’s culture.

Lasting change is within our reach. Though our path forward may not always be comfortable, we’re committed to finding our way by having hard conversations, listening, making mistakes, learning, and growing. We owe it to the children we serve to work towards making their future an equitable one. We look forward to engaging and partnering with everyone working towards this shared vision.
